JELLYFISH SERIES

Scientists believe jellyfish are the largest biomass in the ocean and that the motion they create when swimming affects the circulation of ocean currents on Earth. I have always been curious about these beautiful gelatinous sea creatures that have no brain. Like so many things in life, with jellyfish there is a balance between their delicate grace and their poisonous sting. The number one most dangerous animal on Earth is the Box Jellyfish. It is also one of the most beautiful creatures on Earth.

As an artist, I am drawn to the delicate transparency of the jellyfish’s body and the rhythmic dance it does when moving through the water. The way the bell of the body changes to turn itself inside out, and the linear tentacles and soft arms draw food into the jellyfish’s mouth.
